Urgent and non-urgent are mixed up here
What sets a construction or installation firm apart from almost every other sector is that incoming calls fall into two completely different categories arriving on the same number. A leak or a failed boiler in February is urgent and must reach someone within ten minutes. A quote request for a bathroom is not, and can wait until tomorrow. With nobody on the phone they get treated equally well or equally badly, namely both by voicemail. The agent asks one question first and then treats them differently, and that is the whole gain.
The quote you sent and then nothing
In this trade the average quote is a few thousand euros and the average follow-up is zero calls. Not from indifference, but because chasing has to happen in the evening and the paperwork wins. Two weeks later the job has gone to whoever did call. The Follow-up agent calls on day three, day seven and day fourteen, asks whether there are any questions, and writes the answer back to your system. Whoever says no you never hear about again; whoever hesitates lands on your list with the reason attached.
Work orders, receipts and the shoebox
The second big gap in this trade is not at the front but in the paperwork. Merchant receipts, hours from the van, hand-written work orders that still need turning into invoices. That is work done in the evening or at the weekend and it runs structurally behind, with late invoices as the result. The Admin agent reads receipts and invoices and books them into Exact, e-Boekhouden or Moneybird; from a work order it drafts an invoice for you to approve. It finalises nothing without you having looked.
