Message our AI chat agent yourself on WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook

Our AI chat agent is live on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger. Message it yourself through the links, and see what it can and cannot do per channel.

By Nicolaas Sterenborg · Founder, Van Borg Agency · LinkedInBuilds software for online findability and AI: chat agents and voice agents, for businesses throughout the Netherlands.

Where can you try our AI chat agent yourself?

Our AI chat agent has been live on three channels since August 2026: WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger. Send it a message and you get an answer from Borg, our own AI agent, carrying the same knowledge as the widget on this site. No form, no queue, no callback request.

Those three links are real deeplinks: wa.me opens WhatsApp with our number filled in, ig.me opens the DM with @vanborgagency, and m.me opens Messenger at the Van Borg Agency Facebook page. On desktop they open the web version, on your phone the app itself.

WhatsApp went live first, and that was not a coin toss. In the Netherlands it is the channel almost everyone is already in:

"WhatsApp blijft het grootste dagelijkse kanaal met 12,1 miljoen dagelijkse gebruikers." ("WhatsApp remains the largest daily channel, with 12.1 million daily users.")

Newcom Research & Consultancy, Nationale Social Media Onderzoek 2026 (23 January 2026, 6,685 respondents aged 15 and over)

One thing to know before you message us: the WhatsApp number is the same number as our phone line, +31 6 12 52 10 04. Calling reaches a human, messaging reaches the agent. That is a decision and not a temporary state: a number registered on the WhatsApp Cloud API cannot also live in the ordinary WhatsApp app.

What can the chat agent do on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook?

On all three channels the agent answers questions about what we offer, what it costs and how fast it is live, from a knowledge base built on the one behind the website agent. It replies in text, with choice buttons and links. What it cannot do there: open a calendar, show the pricing calculator or accept photos of a job.

That is the core of how we build this: the brain can be the same everywhere, the body cannot. One knowledge base, one set of answers, one tone. But what a channel is able to draw differs per app, and no amount of code gets around that.

Its first message always says who you are dealing with: "Hi, you're speaking with Borg, the AI chat agent of Van Borg Agency." That is not politeness but a requirement. Article 50 of the EU AI Act requires that a person knows they are talking to an AI system, unless that is obvious anyway. We settle it in the first sentence, on every channel.

If it does not know something, it does not guess. The conversation lands with us instead, transcript included. How that handover works is covered in what happens when the AI agent does not know the answer.

Why does the agent not book an appointment inside an Instagram chat?

Because Meta does not allow it there. Instagram DMs have no webview and no form, so there is no surface a date picker could exist on. On Messenger it works through a webview, on WhatsApp through a Flow. On Instagram the agent therefore sends a link to the booking page, and never promises a calendar inside the conversation.

Three Meta rules that shape your conversation, and that apply on any messaging platform because they come from Meta and not from the vendor:

  • The 24 hour window. After a message from a visitor, a business has 24 hours to reply freely. After that it needs a tag or a paid message. That is set out in the Messenger Platform and IG Messaging API policy.
  • Three buttons, no more. A message template carries at most three buttons. On a website there is no such limit, which is why the full list of options only exists there.
  • Button templates and carousels do not render on Instagram web. Open the DM in a browser and they are simply not there. That is why a plain link is not the fallback on Instagram but the safest route.

So the richest version is still your own website. Only there does the calendar open, the calculator add up, and a photo of the job go into the intake. What that website agent does exactly is on the ChatAgent page.

What went wrong when we switched WhatsApp on?

The first real test message came back as three messages instead of one: "One moment...", "Be right back..." and only then the answer. That was not a mistake in the prompt but a setting: the messaging platform was announcing that a tool was running. On a website such a notice is useful, on WhatsApp they are three separate push notifications.

The cause was in the session log, not in the settings. On every incoming message the agent checks our lead sheet to see whether this is a known customer. On WhatsApp a phone number always comes along, so that lookup happens on every turn: two extra model rounds on top of the answer. The tool stayed, announcing it did not.

Which is exactly the advice we would have liked to receive: do not launch a new channel on a demo, launch it on a real message from a real device, and then read back the session log instead of the settings page. In one session on 22 August 2026 that turned up three things no manual mentioned.

What does an extra channel on the ChatAgent cost?

The first extra channel costs €25 per month, the second €15 and the third €5. The website agent itself is included in the ChatAgent at €295 setup and €179 per month. So WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger all three added comes to €224 per month, cancellable monthly.

| Item | Price | | --- | --- | | ChatAgent on your own website (answers, intake with photo and video, books into your calendar) | €295 setup, €179/mo | | First extra channel (WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook Messenger) | €25/mo | | Second extra channel | €15/mo | | Third extra channel | €5/mo |

Prices updated: August 2026, excluding VAT. Price your own mix on the pricing page with calculator.

The tiers drop because the work drops. The first channel costs us the connection, the channel limits and a round of testing on a real device. The second inherits that knowledge base and those limits, and the third is one more plug in the same socket. We charge what it costs, not what it could fetch.
